    Dear Support,

    I am the programmer for Aquapure LLC. I want to set up external storage for documents on the server. Do you have this capability?

    Hello Jeff,

    There are a couple of ways to go about this (I’m assuming you want the documents to at least be referenced by your FileMaker database):

    1) Embed all the documents within the FileMaker database (or a second FileMaker database for file storage that is referenced by the primary solution). This is the easiest solution as you can upload, backup and download everything as one file.

    2) Manage the files through FileMaker, but instead of embedding tell FileMaker to save the file system. This will keep your database file size small, but you will not be able to easily backup and download the documents through our control panel. You’ll have to get our help should the need arise.

    3) Use your web hosting provider and upload (through FTP) the documents there. Then, in your solution save a reference to the document URL.
